Gems are a premium currency in Dungeon Defenders 2. Players start out with 600 gems on their account. They cannot be otherwise obtained without purchasing them with [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency real-life currency] in the shop. Gems can be used to purchase [[Heroes]], [[Shards|Shard Packs]], cosmetics and other items in the Emporium.

Ascension

Ascension is an account-wide system in which players continue to gain power in a limitless fashion. A player can start gaining Ascension Points after a hero on the account reaches level 50. Heroes under level 50 cannot apply any ascension points, however, upon reaching level 50, heroes can apply all ascension points that have been earned on that account. Ascension points can be spent and viewed by accessing the ‘Ascension’ tab on a hero in the inventory. Once ascension points have been spent, they cannot be recovered unless the player pays a fee of either 200 [[Defender Medals]] or 50 [[Gems]] to reset the ascension points on a hero.

Ascension points are awarded every time the player levels up and fall into one of three categories: Offence, Defence and Utility. Offence deals with hero and ability damage, Defence focuses on defence power and health and utility focuses on miscellaneous upgrades such as movement speed and ability mana.

The War Table is the means by which players can start and join games in Dungeon Defenders 2. The war table is directly in front of the player when they enter the town or their private tavern. Interacting with the War Table brings up the Game Browser, which allows players to find games based on certain criteria that they select on the left-hand side of the browser. Players can also create their own games by selecting a game mode, difficulty and map, then selecting ‘Create Game’ at the bottom. After that, they can optionally give the game a name, set a required [[ascension]] level for other players to join or set the game to private so only players in the current party can join.
