Costumes are different visual skins that are available for your heroes instead of using the Standard Garbs. They can be equipped through the Seamstress at the Emporium in the Tavern/Town Hub or through the Cosmetics section which can be accessed through the player's inventory. Along with Accessories, Flairs and Tower Skins, they make up DD2's cosmetics system.
All costumes have minimum an accessory to fill in each accessory slot.

Acquiring Costumes
Most costumes are acquired through premium currency (gems) is currently one of the ways Chromatic Games hopes to make money through DD2 which is a Free-to-Play game. As such in order to avoid a pay-to-win scenario, costumes are only cosmetic, affecting animations and graphics but not providing stat benefits.
- There are also certain costumes that is alternatively obtainable through buying certain DLCs, though its content may vary.
What Does Costumes Provides
Each costumes provides a unique visual card for your deck and accessories that makes the character different. However, those accessories cannot be mixed between other costumes' accessories. Some costumes have multiple accessories for certain slots that you can switch between for unique looks, hence the same costume may look different in certain configurations.
Certain costumes does provide unique healing, death and spawn animations instead of regular ones.
Costume Themes
Costumes that are thematic may denote an event and/or a fashion collection. There are different themes available for the current heroes. However, not all themes currently do have costumes available for all heroes.
- There are currently 7 themes that are currently available.
- Galactic costumes
- Dragonfall Carnival costumes
- Shadow costumes
- Galaxy costumes
- Permafrost costumes
- Plexus costumes
- Jade Guardian costumes
However, there is one theme that is only available during seasonal periods.
- Burning Souls costumes (Halloween)
Exclusives Themes
These are themes that are exclusive as they signify past events (available only at that particular time) or other circumstances. Those will never be available ever again as to not break the promise on them being Limited Editions or being exclusive to that event.
- Dragonfall Defenders costumes (Defense Council)

- Grave Danger costumes (Halloween 2015)
- Humbug Holiday costumes (Winter Event 2015)

- These limited edition costumes are only available from October 21st 2015 to November 2nd 2015 as part of DD2's 2015 Halloween seasonal.
- However, due to some confusion on TE's part, The Grave Danger DLC was accidentally rereleased in Oct 2016, PS4's Bone Chillin' Pack was always available and two of the skeletons being available in the Hero Army Pack DLC. All this was rectified after a massive outcry in the forums that got TE to be aware of the issue.
