The robes worn by the Initiate embody the deeply held seven virtues of the mountain monks.
The Gi of Seven Virtues is the Powerful default look for the Initiate. The "costume" is available to use as soon as you've unlocked the hero.
What this contains
The Gi of Seven Virtues contains 8 accessories - Two changeable pieces for each section (that being Head, Torso, Arms, and Legs). All accessory pieces are available to use without needing to unlock them. The garb also provides the default Initiate card art for your hero deck.
Costume does not affect any actual weapon cosmetic as equipping any polearms will always override the Initiate's default weapon look. That default weapon does not drop as an item which makes it virtually impossible to fully achieve the hero's default look while progressing through the game.
(Both the garb and weapon are two separate things but together they make the default look.)
