Most costumes are acquired through premium currency ([[gems]]) is currently one of the ways Chromatic Games (formerly Trendy Entertainment ) hopes to make money through DD2 which is a Free-to-Play game. As such in order to avoid a pay-to-win scenario, costumes are only cosmetic, affecting animations and graphics but not providing stat benefits.
* There are certain costumes that are obtainable without using premium currency. Those are only through Defender Pack (which will have a certain chance to drop in Onslaught or acquired through premium currency). However, there are 2 that can only be acquired through obtaining codes by social media (liking DD2's Facebook Page and following DD2's Twitter page). * And there are also certain costumes that is alternatively available obtainable through buying certain DLCs too, though its content may vary.
== What Does Costumes Provides ==
Each costumes provides a unique visual card for your deck and accessories that makes the character different. However, those accessories cannot be mixed between other costumes' accessories. Some costumes have multiple accessories for certain slots that you can switch between for unique looks, hence the same costume may look different in certain configurations.
Certain costumes does provide unique healing, death and , victory or spawn animations instead of regular ones.
