Spawn Points

Spawn points are the points where enemies spawn. How many spawn points there are entirely depends on what map the player has chosen.

The spawn points are represented by purple "eyes" on your mini map.

Protected zone

Before entering the map the enemies are invulnerable. This means the player has to wait until the enemies have walked out of the purple protection zone.

However, if the enemies attack you or your defenses first their invulnerability is no longer active and can take damage from both heroes and defenses.

Billboards

In the build phase each spawn point has a Billboard above it that shows what types and amounts of enemies will spawn from that spawn point for the following Combat Phase.
