Costumes are different visual skins that are available for your heroes instead of using the Standard Garbs. They can be equipped through the Seamstress at the Emporium in the Tavern/Town Hub or through the Cosmetics section which can be accessed through the player's inventory. Along with Flairs and Accessories, they make up DD2's cosmetics system.

All costumes have minimum an accessory to fill in each accessory slot.

Acquiring Costumes

Most costumes are acquired through premium currency (gems) is currently one of the ways Trendy Entertainment hopes to make money through DD2 which is a Free-to-Play game. As such in order to avoid a pay-to-win scenario, costumes are only cosmetic, affecting animations and graphics but not providing stat benefits.

  • There are certain costumes that are obtainable without using premium currency. Those are only through Defender Pack (which will have a certain chance to drop in Onslaught or acquired through premium currency). However, there are 2 that can only be acquired through obtaining codes by social media (liking DD2's Facebook Page and following DD2's Twitter page).
  • And there are certain costumes that is alternatively available through certain DLCs too.

What Does Costumes Provides

Each costumes provides a unique visual card for your deck and accessories that makes the character different. However, those accessories cannot be mixed between other costumes' accessories. Some costumes have multiple accessories for certain slots that you can switch between for unique looks, hence the same costume may look different in certain configurations.

Certain costumes does provide unique healing, death and spawn animations instead of regular ones.

Costume Themes

Costumes that are thematic may denote an event and/or a fashion collection. There are different themes available for the current heroes. However, not all themes currently do have costumes available for all heroes.

  3. Shadow costumes (Dragonfall Carnival)

How it works in early access/beta.

Costumes can be equipped through the Seamstress in the Tavern and is available starting at level 1.

They are acquired mainly through premium currency and (along with bag space, character slots and premium pets) the main way Trendy hopes to make money through DD2 which is a Free To Play game. As such in order to avoid a pay-to-win scenario, costumes are only cosmetic, affecting animations and graphics but not providing stat benefits.

There are currently two types of costumes, the first being premium sets which usually include custom animations and effects. These premium sets cannot be combined with other premium sets or costume pieces. The other type of costume is individual pieces which can be mixed and matched. These costume pieces currently do not provide any new animations or effects however they can be acquired without premium currency.

There are two ways to acquire the non-premium costume pieces, either by purchasing them directly from the Seamstress using premium currency or by opening a Lockbox with keys bought through Wyvern Tokens from the Treasure Pirate or with premium currency.

Costumes are categorized into sets, each of which contains at least 1 costume piece for:

Head

Armor

Torso

Legs

Costume Leveling

There are a number of costumes that can be leveled and change appearance while playing the game. All these costumes currently are premium. These costumes are leveled by earning experience while playing wearing the costume. Once enough Experience has been earned the appearance of the costume maybe changed in the wardrobe tab when visiting the seamstress. Players may also check there costume leveling progress from this screen.

Not all parts of a costume maybe upgradeable and others may be upgraded a number of times changing appearance with each upgrade.
